What is mediation?
Mediation is a voluntary process, guided by
a neutral facilitator, that helps people communicate and work together to resolve conflicts.
Mediation:
- helps people talk to one another
- helps people find solutions
- improves relationships
- is private and confidential
- is affordable
A mediator creates a safe space and a respectful forum for people to talk, listen,
and negotiate to reach agreements.
Mediators help people in conflict to:
- clearly state what they each want and why
- discover resources and solutions that meet the needs of all parties
- avoid long legal battles and move
forward in their lives
- explore creative ways of responding to
 conflict
